Donald (Don) Jackson Green, Sr.

Donald (Don) Jackson Green, Sr. went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, July 31, 2025. He was born on March 5, 1932 to Walter and Mozelle Green in Lindale, Georgia where he lived until joining the Air Force. In 1952 he met and married the love of his life, Dorothy Gay Demark, while serving in the Air Force at Hunter Air Force Base in Savannah. They were blessed with 63 years of marriage until her death in 2015.

His 20 years of distinguished military service included a tour of duty as an evacuation medic in Vietnam during the Tet Offensive. He earned a number of awards including the Air Force Accommodation Award and Bronze Star. After the Air Force, he went to work for the United States Postal Service.

Don enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and listening to Southern Gospel music in his spare time. He looked forward to Sundays to celebrate Jesus at Southside Baptist Church. His favorite moments were with his loving family.

Preceding him in death were his wife Dot, his parents, and brothers, Gene Green and Harold Green. He is survived by his brother, Darold Green of Lindale, Georgia along with his children: Diane (Randy) Friese of Wichita, Kansas, Debbie Michael of Hagerstown, Maryland, Donnie (Charlyn) Green of Martinez, Georgia, and Bobby Green of Savannah; Grandchildren: Dana George, Kristen Friese, Jason (April) Friese, Jennifer (Dave) Norford, Matthew (Alicia) Lynn, Daniel (Samantha) Lynn, Paul Green, and Mary (Greg) O’Berry; 12 great-grandchildren, 8 great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

 The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at Fox & Weeks Funeral Home – Hodgson Chapel, located at 7200 Hodgson Memorial Drive in Savannah. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Fox & Weeks – Hodgson Chapel with burial with military honors following at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens at 315 Greenwich Road in Savannah. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Southside Baptist Church (oursbc.org), Turning Point Ministries (davidjeremiah.org), or Samaritan’s Purse (samaritanspurse.org).
